Mandela House

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

– Nelson Mandela

Nobel Peace Prize winner and South African President Nelson Mandela became a civil rights leader when he fought against apartheid and for a better life for black South Africans. He served 27 years of his life in prison for his protests, under conditions with the sole aim to break his unwavering resolve. Once released he continued to campaign and in 1994 all races were able to vote in the South African general election, to which he won and was elected President. Throughout his presidency, Nelson was a strong force in keeping peace and preventing further civil war in his country.
