Teaching groups KS3

In Year 7, students are placed in mixed ability teaching groups until the October half-term where curriculum areas, having analysed Key Stage 2 data and or tested students, decide whether it is best to teach them in mixed ability groups or in ability groupings.

PSHE (Personal Social, Health and Economic Education)

A curriculum plan for the teaching of the various topics for this subject is additional to this curriculum plan and can be found on the school’s website under PHSE curriculum.

The topics in PHSE are taught both as discrete subjects through lessons, during tutor time and/or through specified days. An example of this would be sex and relationships education, there are discrete modules taught within science but there would also be discussion, writing and analysis of different relationships presented in non-fiction texts, drama and poetry studied in English across all key stages. This is also taught during form time PHSE sessions in year groups.
