Homework

Educational research continues to highlight the benefit of homework for students, not just on academic progress in subject areas, but also on personal skills, such as developing independence, communication and resilience.

Our Aim is:

  • To help students realise their potential.
  • To encourage the development of independent study and revision.
  • To consolidate knowledge and skills taught in lessons
  • To support and develop Literacy skills across all subjects.
  • To provide opportunities for parents/carers to support the learning of their children.

Frequency and completion of homework:

Homework for all year groups will be set by their individual subjects in the following frequencies:

  • Weekly (where students receive 3-4 lessons a week)
  • Weekly or Fortnightly (where students receive 1-2 lessons a week)
  • Year 7 and Year 8 students are set approximately 20-30 mins of homework per subject (weekly or fortnightly)
  • Year 9 students are set approximately 30-40 mins of homework per taught subject (weekly or fortnightly)
  • Year 10 and Year 11 students are set approximately 45-60 mins of homework per taught subject (weekly or fortnightly)
