Living Sport School of the Year (Secondary)

 

Massive congratulations go to North Cambridge Academywho on Thursday Evening, won the “Living Sport” School of the Year category (Secondary School). The Sports Awards are a prestigious and annual event designed to recognise and celebrate the achievements of talented sportsmen & women, coaches, volunteers and organisations and clubs from across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Criteria of the award:

  1. Given its students a wide range of opportunities to participate in high quality PE and extra-curricular sport
  2. Enabled teams and/or individuals to make considerable improvements in sport
  3. Been committed to teacher/coach training to continually improve the quality of sport in their school or college
  4. Shown continual commitment to school-club / college-club links and working within the local community

This success is on top of further good news! Last Thursday, we were awarded£ 100,000 developer contributionto construct a block of four all-weather tennis courts. As you know, our local MP Daniel Zeichner, is coming to visit the college on Monday and will be celebrating the Sport England Inspired Facilities Grant (£78,000) for the new Gymnastics Academy, opening in 2016. It is very exciting times in the Physical Education and Sport Department and we should all be very proud of what we have achieved.
