Our Curriculum

At NCA the curriculum is shaped by the aim that every student should succeed to the best of their abilities across a broad and balanced set of subjects. It also aims to offer spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) opportunities within and beyond the classroom. Our curriculum is designed to provide tailored, flexible routes through the academy. These are created through the combination of a range of courses and sensitive, flexible setting and grouping arrangements. They are also refined depending on the size and profile of the cohort.

Alternatively, pathways can be constructed in terms of intervention, alternative curricula or other arrangements. The focus at North Cambridge Academy is to come to the best fit for each individual student.

North Cambridge Academy operates a one-week timetable. The curriculum reflects Meridian Trust’s five core values:

Pursuing excellence

Valuing people

Achievement for all

Extending the boundaries

High quality learning environments

Each academic week is made up of 25 one-hour lessons and a further 20 minutes each day in form groups or assembly.
